Shift Cable Security Clips — 987 / 997

The TRS shift security cable clamps slip over directly where the cable connects to the shift linkage on the transmission. The cable end inserts are plastic and very brittle, and overtime can deteriorate and the cable will pop off. These clips keep the cable attached directly to the transmission end.
Installation
1Step 1Position the security clips
Slide the new clips between the shift cable end and linkage on the transmission (see photos below). The large round hole on one side of the clamp need to face the outer side of the cable ends, and the channel side goes between the clamp and linkage. Sometimes the cables are very tight and the clips require a bit of fines to insert. Do not pry on the linkage end as this may create damage.
2Step 2Install and secure the safety pins
Once they are secured in place, install the safety pins (2 per clamp). You should have 4 safety pins that came with the kit and 2 security clamps. Each clamp uses two safety pins. Slide the pins through the holes in the security clamps and spread them so that they lock in place (see photos below). Once you have done that, you are all set. Lower the vehicle back on the ground and enjoy!
