Shift Cable Security Clips — 986 / 996
Clip orientation, original clamp removal where specified, and safety pin installation.

1Step 1Remove the original three-prong clamps
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR 986/996 SHIFT CABLE SECURITY CLIPS
Once you have access to the shift cable links attached to the transmission, you will notice a 3 prong clamp attached to each (see photo below). It is necessary to remove these clamps from the shift cable links. They are easily removed by prying them off gently from each tab (3 tabs).

2Step 2Install the security clamps and safety pins
Once you have the original clamps removed, it is time to install the TRS security clamps. The clamps slip over the shift linkage. You should have 8 safety pins that came with the kit and 4 security clamps. Each clamp uses two safety pins. Slide the pins through the holes in the security clamps and spread them so that they lock in place (see photos below). Once you have done that, you are all set.
