TuneRS MOTORSPORTS PROJECT 993 RS CLUBSPORT

Project 993 RS Clubsport: Goal - Take a base 993 Carrera 2 and convert it into a street/track RS Clubsport clone using original factory Porsche 3.8 Cup parts. Mike has collected and stored all of his original 993 Cup parts off his race car that was sold several years ago. This project has been aimed to re-create what once was, but streetable for everyday use. (Pictures below are original 993 3.8 Cup)

Engine: The engine will be built up as a strong 3.8L. Forged rocker arms, aluminum crankcase, dual spark ignition, all the necessary components to bring this engine to 3.8 Cup specifications. Full fabspeed exhaust give the aggressive sound we are looking for.

Power Train: The 993 will have a six speed manual transmission equipped with racing clutch and sing-mass flywheel. The rear end gets a nice limited slip differential upgrade which should help plant the 300+ horsepower to the ground.

Bodywork: The 993 is a base carrera 2 from 1995 and has already been stripped to its bare tub and is currently being prepped for a color change. Every seam has been welded to give extra strength. The rear decklid will be a plastic 993RSCS wing. The front gets a nice aluminum hood. All glass will be replaced by thin, lightweight glass (rear and doors). Front and rear bumpers get European look, front brake air dams (non-turbo look) and front RS spoiler. Doors and fenders are lightweight fiberglass. Sunroof has been eliminated and roof has been replaced with a carbon-fiber one.

Interior: Tub will be painted (whatever color is finally chosen). Momo steering wheel, Recaro seats with six point seat harness. 4 kg fire extinguisher (for emergencys of course). Complete weld-in roll cage (completed) which not only protects its passengers in case of a crash, but also gives strength and rigity to the body. The fuel tank will be a 72ltr. Alcantara finish will top it off on dashboard, center console, steering wheel, seats, shifter, and door panels (european).

Steering & Suspension: JIC CROSS Competition Coilovers, fully adjustable have been installed. Tarett toe links & drop link sets equipped. RS control arms. Original 993 Cup sway bars and front cross bar between strut towers. Power steering has been eliminated completely and converted to manual steering.

Brake System: Fixed-caliper disc brake system from Brembo. Vehicle also comes with electro-hydraulik power assistance. Rotors are cross drilled, internally vented (322mm front, 299mm rear) and ABS is adjusted to race conditions. Steel braided brake lines as well.

When the 993 is completed, estimated weight should be around 1100 - 1200kg.

The 993 is currently being painted grand prix white. Next step is re-assembly.
